The grandmother of a three-year-old girl in foster care complained that the foster parents were abusing the child and her four-year-old brother, but social services ignored the warning. The child was later found dead in her foster home, and the foster parents had disappeared. Social services later took the deceased girl’s baby sister from the grandmother’s house after she criticized social services for the three-year-old girl’s death. Social services claimed that they removed the child because the grandmother left her at home while she went to make arrangements for the deceased granddaughter’s body, although the baby was actually at home with her uncle during that time.

Later, after the local news contacted the social services’ office, the child was returned with no explanation. Social services has refused to comment on why the child was taken from the grandmother and then returned.

Social services often takes children from parents on the slightest report of abuse and then asks questions later. However, when it comes to foster parents, social services is often slow to respond to legitimate reports of abuse.

[The grandmother] said [social sevices] retaliated against her after she criticized a social worker for allegedly ignoring reports that [the children] were being abused at their foster home.

[After the grandmother] criticized the worker for [the girl]'s death, the [social services] employee took [the baby], and told [the grandmother] it was because she left the toddler at home, albeit with family.
